The UAE and Egypt expect a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the field of space

Cairo, April 29 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates, represented by the Emirates Space Agency, signed a memorandum of understanding, with the Arab Republic of Egypt, represented by the Egyptian Space Agency, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in peaceful space activities, on the sidelines of the participation of the Emirates Space Agency delegation headed The Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The delegation also participated in the opening ceremony of the headquarters of the African Space Agency, which was held in the Egyptian Space City in Cairo, in the presence of the prominent figures in the sector, and a number of ministers and officials from various countries of Africa.

Al -Qubaisi said, the Memorandum of Understanding embodies an important station in the path of Arab space cooperation, and reflects the strategic vision of the UAE, which believes that the space represents a promising gateway to achieving sustainable development, promoting cognitive exchange, and developing innovative solutions to common challenges.

He added that our cooperation with the brothers in the Arab Republic of Egypt is a firm commitment to the principle of investment in man, the localization of knowledge, and the building of a competitive knowledge economy based on innovation and leadership, and elevates the aspirations of our peoples towards a more prosperous and stable future.

The Memorandum of Understanding aims to support sustainable development efforts, empower national competencies, and to employ space technologies to serve societies, as well as promoting scientific research and developing space applications for peaceful purposes, in line with the UAE’s vision to establish its position as a reliable partner in the space sector regionally and internationally.

It provides for the establishment of a long -term cooperation framework in the fields of civil space, through the exchange of experiences, research and technology, and the launch of joint projects that contribute to achieving the sustainable development goals of both countries.

Cooperation between the two parties includes multiple fields including communication technologies, navigation and timing, land monitoring and remote sensing, awareness of space status, distance asset management, research and development in emerging and advanced technologies.

The agreement reflects the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its regional and international presence in the space sector, and its keenness to expand its strategic network with Arab countries, in a way that enhances common interests, supports the development of national space systems, and contributes to employing science and technology to achieve a more sustainable and prepared future for challenging challenges.
