The transition from “the year” to the “applicant” for “ninth” students only

The Ministry of Education confirmed that the transition from the public track to the advanced path is available only for ninth grade students, provided that a rate of no less than 80% in English language, mathematics and science subjects is achieved, and this is done during the first semester only, and students of the eleventh and twelfth grades are not allowed to transfer to the advanced path at any stage.

The Ministry indicated that if the student does not achieve the minimum transfer to the advanced path, he will continue to study in the public track without the possibility of transfer, which highlights the importance of academic follow -up since the ninth grade and the prior planning of the university future.

The Ministry allowed the change of the scenario within the same path for students of the eleventh grade only, during the first two weeks of the beginning of the school year, while the twelfth grade students are not available to change the scenario that was adopted in the eleventh grade, within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to ensure academic stability in the final stage.
She said within comprehensive clarifications on the most prominent inquiries related to recent updates in the educational paths system, which is scheduled to be applied as of the academic year 2025-2026, and the application plan continues until the academic year 2027-2028 that these amendments aim to enhance the elasticity of the educational system and link students’ choices to their academic tendencies and individual capabilities, in line with the requirements of the higher education and the future labor market.

She said: «In the event that the student in the twelfth grade is established during the current academic year 2024-2025, he will have to return the same class in the following year according to the same scenario that he chose in advance, whether in the public or advanced track.

She explained that in the event of a student in the eleventh grade, he will be asked to follow the “No. 1 scenario” in both tracks, the general and advanced, which includes the study of two scientific subjects out of three.

She emphasized that in the event that the student who studies in the twelfth grade desires to drop the subject of physics from his academic articles, the student should commit to choosing an alternative subject of optional subjects such as health sciences, arts, or computing, creative design and innovation.

She stated that this option may affect the opportunities for admission in some university majors, which requires the student and his guardian to review the requirements of the targeted universities and submit a written declaration to agree to this.

The Ministry stressed the importance of harmonization between the academic scenario, student tendencies, academy capabilities and future aspirations, as this plays a decisive role in determining the opportunities for admission to higher education institutions.

Regarding the conditions of university admission, the ministry clarified that enrollment in scientific specializations such as medicine and engineering often requires studying the advanced path, especially during the academic year 2024-2025 for students of “scenario 2” within the general track, where they can apply for these disciplines provided that the degrees required by universities are achieved.

The Ministry stressed the necessity of early planning to choose the academic path, stressing the importance of involving the family in these decisions to ensure its compatibility with the student’s future aspirations, whether at the university or professional level.
