Yemen – The United Nations welcomes the formation of the new government

In his daily press conference, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric quoted the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, as welcoming the return of women to the Cabinet. Grundberg said it is an important step towards strengthening inclusive governance and supporting the decision-making process.

The UN envoy added: “It is important that the newly formed government be allowed to do its work in a constructive environment to achieve stability, alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, and help create conditions for lasting peace.”

Dujarric stated that the Special Envoy will continue his engagement with the Yemeni and regional parties to support efforts aimed at enhancing dialogue and reducing escalation.
