A Roman linguistic expert reveals rare knowledge treasures during "Abu Dhabi Book"

Abu Dhabi, May 2/ WAM/ Yuan Perta, a Romanian linguistic expert and president of the Romanian Association “ARB”, revealed that he has a unique archive that includes many rare Arabic manuscripts, as well as holdings of Roman archives, noting that the number of rare artifacts that he keeps ranges between 600 to 700 thousand pieces, dating back to prehistoric times and extending until the seventeenth century.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency, “WAM”, he expressed his pride in participating for the first time at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025, pointing to his wide literary contributions, where he composed about 45 books, whose pages range from 600 to 800 pages, which reflects the abundance of his scientific production and the diversity of his research interests.

He talked about his latest book, which represents a historical, multi -language reference, and includes evidence documented in several languages, including a rare manuscript of Ibn Sina, in addition to 4,500 manuscripts that dealt with Aristotle’s philosophy, and the book also contained a rare manuscript entitled “The Basis of the Arabic Language and the Islamic Religion”, dating back to the tenth century AD, and includes 114 files that were translated and interpreted in five languages: English, German, Roman, Serbian, and Arabic.

In his speech, Berta discussed the old books, highlighting “Silabari”, which is one of the oldest textbooks, dates back to the year 600 AD, explaining that it was common in Europe, especially during the sixteenth centuries until the nineteenth.

He stressed that these books are considered one of the oldest educational means dedicated to children’s education, and in some cultures, they have a special status within the rooted educational and linguistic heritage, pointing out that some archaeological copies of them are still preserved in their original archives.

Berta stated that what distinguishes the 2025 version of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is the wide turnout of different age groups, especially children and students, which reflects the growing cultural awareness and enhances the role of the exhibition in delivering knowledge to future generations.

He expressed his pride in meeting His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, describing the meeting as a symbolic moment that reflects the interest of the Emirati leadership in culture and knowledge, and gives visitors a feeling of the importance of the book in the renaissance of societies.

He stressed the importance of engaging young people in cultural events, as they are the pillar of the future.

Berta praised the efforts of the organizers in the success of the exhibition, led by the Arabic Language Center in Abu Dhabi, noting that the fruits of these efforts will appear in the long run, which contributes to advancing the march of cultural and cognitive advancement in the Arab world.
