المملكة: A qualitative shift .. Monitor the waters of the Arabian Gulf with smart buoys
Anwar Al -Nahdi, Executive Director of the Monitoring Operations, explained that the project of installing and operating smart buoys is largely accelerating, and the first buoy in the Red Sea started starting from the Islamic port of Jeddah, the second in Yanbu, and the third in Jizan, to the water of the Arabian Gulf, indicating that it will be completed during the year 2025 by operating 35 buoy.

And that the operation of the first buoy in the Persian Gulf is a qualitative shift in environmental monitoring, which enables the data to be transferred from the east and west of the Kingdom in its largest ports in an immediate way, and it will provide accurate data that contributes to enhancing environmental control processes and making decisions based on data.
Al -Nahdi explained that the solar powers are equipped with smart sensors that can measure temperature, salinity, oxygen, dissolved materials, and some chemicals, and are characterized by a wireless communication system to send data instantaneously; Which allows the speed of monitoring pollutants and the early limit.
Protecting marine ecosystems
He noted the importance of this type of technology; Due to the active navigational movement in the Kingdom, development activities that may result in pollutants that pose a threat to the marine and coastal environment if they are not dealt with in an immediate way.
Al -Nahdi pointed out that the national program is moving at a steady pace as a result of integration with the various relevant partners and government agencies; This is in implementation of the Kingdom’s commitment to protecting marine environmental systems, preserving coral reefs and achieving environmental sustainability, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, adding that these projects contribute to enhancing the safety of maritime transport and preserving natural wealth.
