المملكة: Production of 73 thousand seedlings with textile agriculture technology
The center stressed that this success comes in the context of its continuous efforts to support and enhance the efficiency of agricultural production in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The “Sustainability” center explained that tissue agriculture is one of the most prominent modern technologies used globally in the multiplication of plants, as it depends on the cultivation of accurate and selected parts of cells or plant tissues in a sterile food environment specifically prepared for this purpose within the laboratory, with the aim of obtaining complete plants and conforming to the original and with excellent specifications.
Advanced technology
This advanced technology provides many important advantages for the agricultural sector, as it allows the production of very large numbers of seedlings during a standard period of time, and ensures that all the resulting plants are homogeneous and with uniform genetic characteristics, and most importantly, they are completely free of diseases and pests, especially viral ones.
Textile agriculture effectively contributes to efforts to preserve rare or endangered plants, and is considered a powerful tool for improving plant breeds and increasing the productive efficiency of different crops.
High economic value
The center revealed the details of the production achieved by its textile agriculture laboratory during the past year, as large quantities of seedlings of crops of high economic value were produced, which included 30 thousand strawberry seedlings, and 22 thousand black berries, in addition to 20 thousand seedlings of sectarian roses.
The laboratory produced 1150 seedlings and 800 banana seedlings, bringing the total production to more than 73 thousand high -quality seedlings and reliable source within one year.
He pointed out that this achievement reflects the pivotal role of the “sustainability” center in adopting and localizing the latest agricultural technologies, in a way that serves the goals of sustainable agricultural development and food security in the Kingdom.
