The President of Uganda receives Abdullah bin Zayed and witnesses signing 6 memoranda of understanding between the two countries

On May 8/ WAM/ Eure Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, received His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of His Excellency Gigi Odongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the beginning of a working visit by His Highness to Uganda.

During the meeting, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God bless him”, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Presidential Bureau, to his Excellency, and their wishes for the Republic of Uganda and its people in the time of development and prosperity.

For his part, His Excellency His Highness, His Highness, held his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai “may God bless him”, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Presidential Court, and his wishes for the UAE for the time of progress and prosperity.

His Excellency welcomed the visit of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the accompanying delegation, where during the meeting, the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them were discussed, in addition to discussing joint efforts to expand and develop cooperation paths in various developmental fields, especially economic, commercial, investment and energy.

His Highness expressed his pride in the visit of Uganda and the meeting of His Excellency President Museini, stressing that the UAE has distinguished relations with the Republic of Uganda, abounding with promising opportunities and the ingredients for growth in many vital sectors that support the two development plans and efforts to achieve sustainable economic prosperity.

His Highness also affirmed the UAE’s keenness to consolidate sustainable development partnerships with friendly African countries, in a way that benefits and prosperous for their peoples.

After the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency President Yori Museveni signed 6 memoranda of understanding between the two countries.

The two sides witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation between the two countries, signed by His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and His Excellency Mattia Kasayja, Ugandan Finance Minister.

His Highness and His Excellency the President of Uganda also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uganda, signed by His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and His Excellency Gigi Odongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

They witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the UAE and the government of Uganda, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development, regarding cooperation in the energy field, signed by His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, and His Excellency Roth Nanakapirua, Ugandan Minister of Energy.

Also, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Yuri Museini, President of the Republic of Uganda, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on mutual exemption from the entry visa requirements between the two countries, signed by His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and His Excellency General Chenda Otafery, Ugandan Minister of Internal Affairs.

His Highness and His Excellency the Ugandan President witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the “Al -Ittihad train” company and the Ugandan government, signed by His Excellency Shadi Malik, CEO of Al -Ittihad Track, His Excellency General Catumba and Amala, Minister of Works and Transport, as well as signing a memorandum of understanding between the National Information Technology Authority in Uganda and the Emirati “Prize” company specialized in analyzing huge data supported by artificial intelligence, Regarding cooperation in the field of digital transformation and innovation in the areas of cybersecurity, electronic governance systems, and the development of cloud infrastructure, signed by Mohamed Shamein Husseinbokos, Vice President of African Markets in “Brissit”, and Dr. Hatwoyeb Mugasa, CEO of the National Information Technology Authority.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, His Excellency Saeed Mubarak Al -Hajri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and His Excellency Abdullah Hassan Obaid Al Shamsi, the state ambassador to the Republic of Uganda.
