55 thousand students in 70 schools benefited from a campaign "The super hero" To raise awareness of diabetes

Sharjah, May 8 / WAM / The Friends of Diabetes Association, affiliated to the Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, continues to implement its “superhero” awareness campaign for the academic year 2024-2025, which aims to raise the level of awareness of diabetes among school students and parents, and enhance healthy lifestyles within the educational environment.

Since its inception, the campaign has achieved positive results at the level of spread and influence, and so far included 70 schools, including 40 government and 30 private, while the number of beneficiaries of various events reached more than 55 thousand students.

The “Friends of Diabetes” program joined 392 male and female students, in addition to the implementation of 1642 awareness workshops targeting about 33 thousand students and conducting 15807 diabetes examinations, in the framework of the association’s efforts to enhance prevention and early detection inside schools.

The enrichment competitions accompanying the campaign witnessed a wide interaction after 290 students who presented 205 creative works in six categories, reflected awareness of health issues and various expressive and technical skills.

Sheikha Mona Al Qasimi is chaired by the completion file evaluation committee, which includes in its membership Hessa Al -Sharif and Sanaa Asaad, and the committee is currently working to review the nominations received from the supervisory committees in schools, in addition to holding short dialogue sessions with school representatives to review the most prominent efforts and practices.

The jury, headed by Ibtisam Al -Shayeb, and the membership of Dr. Fatima Al -Zarouni, Laila Abu Zekri, and Khaled Majeed, are honored by the arbitration of enrichment participations according to accurate criteria to ensure integrity and transparency in choosing the winners.

Khawla Taher Al -Hajj, head of the Friends of Diabetes Association, stressed that the positive interaction with the campaign reflects the growing awareness of the school community of the importance of diabetes prevention.

She explained that the results achieved so far confirm the importance of partnership with educational institutions in spreading healthy culture and strengthening preventive efforts.

She added that the association continues to implement the campaign programs according to the approved timetable with a focus on expanding the scope of societal impact, supporting children and adolescents with diabetes, and enabling them to coexist with a conscious and supportive educational environment.
