The start of the sixth edition of the Moroccan Poets Festival in Tetouan

Tetouan, May 10 / WAM / The activities of the sixth session of the Moroccan Poets Festival, organized by the Department of Culture in Sharjah, were launched yesterday evening in the city of Tetouan, north of Morocco.
The opening of the festival was attended by the Espanyol Theater in Tetouan, His Excellency Abdullah bin Muhammad Al -Owais, head of the Department of Culture, Muhammad Ibrahim Al -Qusayr, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the department, Abdel -Razzaq Al -Mansouri, the worker of the Tetouan region, and the flowers of Mamhaoush, the regional director of culture, on behalf of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Mahdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Moroccan Communications, and a large number of writers, intellectuals, university students and lovers of the word.
The poet Mukhlis Al -Saghir, director of the Poetry House in Tetouan, said during the opening ceremony that the houses have become a prominent station in the Arab cultural scene thanks to the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, as well as a creative space that celebrates the poetic word, indicating that the festival meets a group of the most prominent Moroccan poetic voices, where he witnessed the participation of hundreds of poets and poets.
For his part, Abdullah Al -Owais referred in his speech to the pioneering role of poetry in expressing identity and cultural values, saying, “The poetry house in Tetouan is a beacon for creativity and a meeting place for writers and poets. Its annual activities crowned this literary meeting to be an open space for cultural dialogue and a meeting place for poetic voices after its busy season witnessed many distinguished activities that included poetic readings and critical studies in addition to the issuance of a new collection Poetic collections that give a great push to poets to more creativity and giving in light of close cooperation between the Culture Department in Sharjah and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, emanating from fraternal relations with firm brotherly relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Morocco sponsored by the rational leadership in the two countries.
On behalf of His Excellency Mohamed Mahdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication in the Kingdom of Morocco, the flowers of Mamhaush, the regional director of culture, delivered the ministry’s speech, appreciating the initiative of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in establishing poetry houses in the Arab world and the qualitative shift it caused to the Arab cultural scene, thanks to the Department of Culture in Sharjah for their continuous Arab efforts.
She said that the current session of the festival will witness a varied rich poetic and artistic paragraphs in the presence of poets representing various regions of Morocco, and they also communicate the various voices of Moroccan poetry speaking in Berber, Arabic, Al -Hassani and a number of living languages, which is the richness and diversity that the city of Tetouan will embrace throughout history.
The current session of the festival witnessed the honoring of the poet Salah Al -Wadih and Al -Naqda Houriya Al -Khamlichi in appreciation of their intellectual and creative efforts, where Al -Owais, Al -Qusayr, Amhaush and Al -Mansouri were honored with appreciation certificates and memorial shields.
Dar Al-Shaar in Tetouan announced the names of the winners of the “First Diwan for Young Poets- Tetouan” in its sixth session, “and they are .. Dar Al -Poetry in Tetouan created a new competition called the “Regional Competition for the Pioneers of the Arabic Language” that aims to instill the spirit of linguistic creativity among children and develop their skills in oral and written expression through competitions in poetic delivery and expressive reading and writing short texts and enhancing the presence of the Arabic language in the awareness of emerging generations and linking them to the values of beauty and creativity from an early age.
More than 10 contestants representing the various cities of the Kingdom of Morocco won in the first session of the competition.
