"Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge" Participates in the Turin International Book Fair

Turin on May 15 / WAM / The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation participates in the “Turin International Book Fair 2025”, one of the most prominent cognitive and intellectual events in Europe, whose activities were launched today in Italy and will continue until May 19, within the framework of the Foundation’s keenness to enhance its presence on the global scene and promote its knowledge projects and its leading intellectual publications in the fields of science, knowledge and publishing industry.
The Foundation began its participation in a symposium on the “Muslim in Sicily”, which was recently launched, in the presence of His Excellency Jamal bin Huwairb, CEO of the Foundation, Dr. Atelio Petrochioli, Professor of PhD Department of Architecture and Building at the University of Rome, and Dr. Francesco Vylnte, Associate Professor of Middle Ages at Bari University in Italy.
Ibn Huwaweib said that the “Islamic Civilization in Sicily” encyclopedia represents the result of a distinctive academic effort that lasted for more than eighteen years under the supervision of the late idea and academy, Dr. Salma Al -Khadra Al -Geiusi, where it included thirty scientific research, which was participated in preparing 29 researchers from Italy, the Arab world, Europe and America, indicating that the encyclopedia is not documented only for the Islamic era in Sicily between 831 and 1091 Rather, it draws the features of an integrated civilization that contributed to the development of architecture, science, arts, language and social systems in this unique Mediterranean island.

He stated that the issuance of this encyclopedia in the English language is currently and in the Italian language soon will open a new door for cognitive communication with the world, and it provides historians and researchers a reliable reference to highlight this enlightening aspect of European and Arab history, which has always been absent or inventory in Andalusia alone, even though Sicily has a history of no less bright or influential.
Dr. Atelio Petrocholi, one of the contributors to the encyclopedia, expressed his pride in contributing to this important academic work that highlights the architectural and urban heritage of Arab -Islamic civilization in Sicily, indicating that his study within the encyclopedia focused on analyzing the architectural structure, urban planning and landscapes through the use of a curriculum aimed at rebuilding stereotypes and dismantling the prejudices that have always been disabled Search in this field.
Petrocholi explained that he highlighted live examples of sites and buildings that show a clear presence of Arab culture in Sicily, which is often ignored or fully attributed to the Norman periods, pointing out that he supervised in -depth studies on water infrastructure and Islamic gardens that re -interpreted well -known archaeological and architectural data.
