The conclusion of the Dubai Lynx Hackathon for students in partnership with Dubai Media City

DUBAI, 5 February, 2018 (WAM) – The Dubai Lynx Student Hackathon, which was held in partnership with Dubai Media City, one of the specialized complexes of the TECOM Group, was concluded after an intense 24-hour creative challenge that brought together an elite group of student talents from universities within Dubai International Academic City and the Dubai Knowledge Park.

Four teams participated in the challenge, each team including five students. The participants attended orientation sessions presented by experts from the sector that addressed the mechanisms for dealing with the creative brief and its themes, before each team presented its ideas before a jury of industry leaders. The entries were evaluated according to the criteria of creativity, strategic vision, and realistic impact.

The program extended over two days at Dubai Knowledge Park and provided an immersive experience that simulates practical reality, and ended with the selection of the winning campaign, which was distinguished by its strategic clarity, creative implementation, and alignment with Dubai’s long-term vision for education.

The list of winners included students from De Montfort University Dubai, Middlesex University Dubai, SP Jain University, Murdoch University Dubai and Zayed University.

Majid Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of TECOM Group, Dubai Media City, Dubai Production City, and Dubai Studio City, stressed that young talents possess capabilities and visions that contribute to accelerating the growth of the media sector, pointing out the city’s commitment to supporting innovation platforms that enable youth to cooperate and create in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Education Strategy 2033.

For his part, Ian Verservice, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Lynx, said that the level of work presented reflects exceptional creative potential, stressing Dubai Lynx’s commitment to providing guidance, supportive platforms, and outreach opportunities for young people.

This year’s brief presented a challenge to create a comprehensive communications campaign that would inspire learners around the world to attract them to Dubai and consolidate its position as a global learner-centric educational destination in support of Dubai Vision 2033.
