The laboratories of the Food and Drug Authority have completed their preparations to participate in efforts to enhance food and medicine for the guests of Rahman during the Hajj season 1446 AH, as a pivotal pillar within the authority’s system aimed at serving pilgrims and ensuring the safety of the products subject to their supervision.
In its work, the authority’s laboratories are based on the latest advanced laboratory devices and technologies such as the liquid chromatography associated with the LC-MS and the HPLC liquid chromatology.

Enhancing the safety of the food of the guests of Rahman

It is also added to it, the invasive chromatic system associated with the GC-MS, and the PCR and others, according to the best global practices in the field of analyzes, and within a direct coordination framework with a number of government agencies.
These devices are used to detect a wide range of pesticide residues, veterinary medications, toxins, organic and inorganic pollutants of various kinds, in addition to food additives, pathogenic bacteria, viruses, and other transmitted pathogens.

These efforts are integrated with the work of the supervisory teams in collecting, analyzing and examining food samples, in addition to implementing field studies programs, which enable the authority to develop procedures and support decision -making based on accurate and detailed information, in a way that contributes to preserving the public safety of the guests of Rahman.

Examination of imported foods

The role of the laboratories extends to include the examination of imported foods through the border ports during the Hajj season, to verify their conformity with Saudi, Gulf and international specifications before they reach pilgrims, with a focus on products that are most vulnerable to damage.
This is such: meat, poultry, dairy, water, juices, and ready -made meals, with the aim of limiting the spread of bacteria and microbes and ensuring the provision of healthy and safe food.
