A Korean Emirati exhibition embodies a cultural partnership between Seoul and Abu Dhabi

She pointed out that bringing the art of contemporary Seoul to the city of Abu Dhabi is a practical step in the path of enhancing cultural communication, expressing its aspiration to expand the scope of this cooperation to include various cultural fields and all sectors of the industry in the future.
For its part, Maya Al -Khalil, the independent artistic value specialized in contemporary art, stressed that the exhibition highlights the art of Korean multimedia, and includes works by artists who contributed to the development of radical art in Korea, noting that the exhibition includes more than 49 Korean artists from the global prominent names, and their works are presented for the first time at this level of quality in the capital Abu Dhabi.
She explained in a statement to “WAM”, that the project consists of four main axes, where the experiment begins by reviewing the early stages of the pioneering artists who started experimenting in multimedia arts, led by Nam John Pike, who is widely considered the founder of video art, and the exhibition is transferred after this preliminary stage to three other sections, the first of which focuses on the “body as a mediator”, noting that the extent of the exhibition includes “society As a matrix of ideas, identities and narratives, “before concluding with the” space as a mediator “axis.
Hebron pointed out that the exhibition is titled “multiple media … we are all open circles”, which is a quotation from the vision of the artist Nam John Pike, who in 1965 expressed his belief that technology will become a tool for linking and communicating between the residents of the “cosmic village”, believing in the idea of multi -directional communication, where everyone is able to send, receive and interact, instead of a monochistic reception system.
For its part, Kyung Huan Yu, Secretary of the Seoul Art Museum, said that the exhibition represents a pivotal station in the path of cultural cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the UAE, and embodies the outputs of a strategic partnership between the Seoul Art Museum and the Abu Dhabi Art Group, in addition to being a fruit of communication between the cities of Seoul and Abu Dhabi.
She explained in her statement to “WAM”, that the exhibition is the result of a continuous cultural dialogue, and expresses a common desire to present works by contemporary Korean artists within a studied context in line with the cultural and social privacy of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, noting that the exhibition was coordinated for the first time in 2024 in the Seoul Museum, and it was re -presented with a different vision commensurate with the cultural background of the UAE and the Arab Gulf region, what Give it a new dimension.
She added that the work on the exhibition was launched from pivotal questions about the importance of contemporary Korean artists for both sides, and how to share this vision with the public in Abu Dhabi, stressing that the research in these questions was the conceptual basis for the development of the exhibition.
She stated that she conducted a research visit to Abu Dhabi last November in coordination with the Abu Dhabi Art Group, in the context of preparing for this exhibition and the expected exhibition in Seoul next December, noting that the visit revealed a remarkable similarity between Abu Dhabi and torrents, especially with regard to the rapid economic and political transformations that the two cities went through since the 1970s, and if the reasons differ, the results and societal experiences were close.
She indicated that these rapid societal changes are reflected in an integrated trilogy: body, culture, and society, which are the axes on which the exhibition is based, where artistic media is presented as intellectual and aesthetic tools that transmit the content of cultural dialogue and allow a space for human interaction between peoples.
She emphasized that the exhibition provides the fans of Abu Dhabi and the Gulf an exceptional opportunity to interact with the works of contemporary Korean artists through a new cultural lens, calling on visitors to engage in this artistic exchange and explore its expressive and cognitive dimensions.
