A 5.3 Richter earthquake hit off the coast of New Zealand
A 5.3 -magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck today, south of the Kermadik Islands, off the coast of New Zealand. The American Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10.0 km, while no warnings were issued that it was tsunami.
