A woman runs for the presidency of Barcelona

Maria Elena Fort, the current deputy president of Barcelona club, under the management of Juan Laporta, announced her intention to run for the Catalan club in the upcoming elections, according to a report published by the Spanish newspaper “Sport”.
Fort, who held the position of President of the President since Laporta’s return to the club’s presidency in 2021, is one of the personalities close to the current administration, as she contributed to many major projects, most notably the “Espassi Parsa” project to develop the Camp Nou, which began implementation by the Turkish “Limak Konsagen” company, with expectations to complete the first stage by November 2024.
Despite its prominent role in the club, the announcement of its candidacy sparked different reactions between the Barcelona fans on the “X” platform. Some have expressed their dissatisfaction with the idea of moving from the position of deputy to a candidate for the club’s presidency, where one of the fans commented: “Balaborta is treacherous and God laughed,” while others used sarcastic pictures to express their rejection of the step. On the other hand, others defended the achievements of the current administration in which Fort participated, such as restoring the 1: 1 base to play financial and renovating the stadium.
