"Future generations"Twenty years of giving and excellence
Al Ain on May 26 / WAM / The Future Generations Library of the Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan Association for Future Generations yesterday organized a great celebration on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its establishment amid a distinguished presence of members of the library, writers, intellectuals, and supporters.
The celebration was held under the patronage of Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions.
The ceremony was started with a registered speech by Sheikh Shamma bint Muhammad bin Khaled Al Nahyan, in which she expressed the library’s position in its conscience, and I brought in a line a line at the door of the ancient Library of Alexandria: “Here is a healing of the soul”, stressing that the library is not just a building, but a living object that beats the souls of thinkers and the minds of scholars, enlightening the path of life with knowledge.
She said: “When the library is the first steps of the child towards knowledge, through which he learns to read with his mind before his eyes. This critical mind is the basis for the establishment of civilizations, so there is no human civilization that has arisen except and the critical thought, creative and innovative, is its pillar and its guide.”
She pointed out that the twenty years since the establishment of the library is a cognitive and national achievement, adding: “I feel proud and I see the Library of Future Generations and has contributed to the formation of the awareness of generations today that is an effective part of the march of Emirati civilization.”
She cited the words of the writer Alberto Manguel: “The value of the library is not that it contains all the answers, but rather that it encourages us to ask questions,” stressing that the role of the library is to give minds the ability to think critical and seek to build renewable knowledge.
At the end of her speech, Sheikha Shamma extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to establishing and supporting the library since it was an idea until it became an influential epistemic edifice in society, greeting to everyone who contributed even a simple role in continuing its giving, and pushing it towards raising a conscious generation capable of making a bright future for our dear country the UAE.
The ceremony witnessed the presentation of a documentary film dealing with the library’s march during the past twenty years, and reviewed its most prominent stations, its achievements, and the prizes it obtained, in addition to the cultural programs and initiatives that it presented over the years, embodying a continuous cognitive heritage that enhances the culture of reading and constitutes the awareness of generations.
During the ceremony, a number of participating groups were honored by founders, supporters, and volunteers, in addition to the distinguished members of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Al -Qurai program, which includes the initiatives of “Buds of Knowledge”, “The Crown of Knowledge”, and “The Emirates of Knowledge”.
The library also hosted the winning families in the “Family Reading Challenge” in its second version, and honored young writers and writers from Al Ain schools, who reviewed their stories and literary creations.
At the end of the ceremony, the ninth session of the “Sheikh Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan Award”, which includes 6 categories, was launched, which includes the distinguished management, the distinguished sources of the sources, the distinguished teacher, the distinguished student, the distinguished family, in addition to the category of people of determination, in confirmation of the UAE’s approach to empowering and integrating the owners of determination in society.
