He was wounded by two bullets in the head … the success of “surgery”, the Colombian presidential candidate

Conservative Senator Miguel Urby, a candidate for the Colombian presidential elections scheduled for next year, underwent a successful surgery after he was shot in the head during a public gathering in Bogota, according to the mayor of the Colombian capital on Sunday.

A video clip posted on the social media sites showed the 39 -year -old candidate, Miguel Urby, delivering a speech during an electoral occasion in the west of the capital upon hearing the sound of gunshots, and a gunman shot him twice in the head and once in the knee before he was arrested.

In another snapshot, a blood -bodied Urby appears on a car before a group of people with a car.

A security guard managed to arrest the suspect, a minor who believed he was 15 years old, while police director Carlos Fernando Triana said that the bomber was injured during the accident and was receiving treatment.

Two other people, a man and a woman, were injured, and a Glock’s firearm was found on the site.

Orepe air was transferred to intensive care at the “Santa in” clinic.

The medical facility in Bogota explained earlier that Aurby was transferred to it in a “critical condition” as he underwent “nerves” and “peripheral blood vessels”.

The mayor of Bogota Carlos Fernando Gallan told the media that Orepe “exceeded the first surgical intervention,” adding that he had entered the “critical hours” to recover.

His wife said in an audio recording that he shared with the media that he “got out of the surgery and put it good.”

The motivation behind the attack has not yet been known, while the Colombian Defense Minister Pedro Sanchez pledged that the army, police and intelligence services used “all its capabilities” to survey what happened.

Also, Sanchez announced a reward of about 725 thousand dollars for those who provide information behind the shooting.

The attack was widespread from various political spectrums and from abroad, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described it as a “direct threat to democracy”, calling on leftist President Gustavo Petro to “stop the inflammatory discourse.”

“This is a direct threat to democracy, which is the result of the violent leftist discourse issued by the highest levels of the Colombian government,” Rubio said in a statement after the shooting of Miguel Urby, adding, “President Petro should stop the inflammatory speech and protect Colombian officials.”

“This violent action is not only an attack on his person, but also on democracy, freedom of thought and the legal practice of politics in Colombia,” Petro government condemned the attack on Urby and said in a statement issued by the presidency.

“Respect for life is the red line. Colombia should not kill its children,” Petro later wrote to X.

In a video addressed to the nation, published on social media, Petro pledged investigations to find those responsible for the “Pain Day”.

“The most important thing today is that all Colombians focus … to ensure that Dr. Miguel Urby remains alive,” he said.

In turn, the United Nations office in Colombia condemned the attack and said in a statement, “We are confident that the authorities will reveal the facts and punish” those responsible for this incident.

Also, Ecuador President Daniel Nuboa and the leader of Venezuelan opposition Maria Corina Machado on X expressed their support for the Senator family.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Spain also condemned an assassination attempt to assassinate Urby, saying, “There is no place for violence in our societies,” wishing him a speedy recovery.

Orepe is one of the most critical critics of Petro, a member of the Democratic Center party led by former President Alvaro Urby who ruled Colombia between 2002 and 2010.
The authorities indicated that there was no specific threat against Urabi before the shooting.

And Urby is the son of Diana Taraby, the famous Colombian journalist who was killed after being kidnapped by Poplo Escobar.

One of its grandfather was the former Colombian President, Julio Cesar Tribe, who led the country from 1978 to 1982.

“An armed person” shot the Senator from behind.
The leader of the party, former Colombian President Alvaro Urby, described the shooting as an attack on the “hope of the country.”
