"Higher education" : Organizing the study of citizens of citizens abroad aims to ensure the quality of their qualifications

Abu Dhabi, June 12/ WAM/ His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Manan Al -Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed that the decision issued by the Council of Education and Human Development and Society regarding the governance and organization of the standards of the study of citizens outside the state, does not aim to cancel the recognition of qualifications, but rather a strategic step towards ensuring the quality of education and protecting the academic and professional students ’investments, in line with the state’s vision Future and the national labor market.

His Excellency said, during his attendance at the eleventh session of the second ordinary session of the 18th legislative semester of the Federal National Council, that the decision came as a result of accurate data and comprehensive analysis, highlighted the existence of a great disparity in the quality of the educational programs that students join their own expense, indicating that 46 percent of students studying on their own account, and their number is more than 3,500 students, studying in two universities Only, which raises real concerns about the exploitation of their academic and commercial status, and 25 percent of these students study in universities that are absolutely not classified, which reflects a gap in awareness of the requirements of quality, and threatens a professional future that is not appropriate for an Emirati student.

He added that, on the other hand, we are proud of today 2,600 scholarships from federal and local authorities, studying in prestigious universities around the world, and they receive a great appreciation from their academic institutions, and they are the best ambassadors of the state in scientific forums, and they reflect the national trend towards building a competing and distinguished human capital.

To keep pace with this contrast and guarantee of fairness, he pointed out that the decision gives students for a full year of its inception “after 3 months of advertising” to reconcile their conditions, and to move to accredited universities and specializations that are in line with the new standards, and the decision also includes students who previously obtained a “no objection”, which was issued for only a year.

His Excellency explained that the government provided its students with alternative solutions, as a committee was formed headed by the Education and Human Development Council and society and the membership of federal and local bodies, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to evaluate students ’cases and provide flexible exceptions based on clear criteria, including the nature of specialization and its scarcity, and the personal or academic conditions of the student.

He stressed that the goal is not to restrict the students, but rather protect them from commercial manipulation and ensure that their certificates are an effective tool for achieving professional appreciation and competitive opportunities, and not just formal documents.

He added that in this context, the Council and the Ministry provided students with wide options that include more than 6300 specializations in more than 400 universities that meet the quality of education quality in more than 40 countries, in addition to the excellent options available locally, which guarantees diversity and balance in education opportunities.

His Excellency stressed: “Our goal is always to empower students and provide them with the best educational experience for them. We want every Emirati student to be proud of his qualification, to be able to compete in the global labor market, and to contribute his educational experience to building the future of the state.”
