The European Film Festival returns to Abu Dhabi on this date

The cultural complex in Abu Dhabi, between June 23 and 29, will host the activities of the second session of the “European Film Festival”, with a joint organization between the “Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi” and the European Union mission to the United Arab Emirates.

The audience of films will have the opportunity to recognize different European cultures and environments, by showing 17 varied European films, as each movie represents a different visual artistic vision, but it meets in one cinematic crucible.

Participating films are: from Latvia: (Flow), Dangerous Gentlemen), the Netherlands: (Bigman), Malta: (Carmen), Germany: (TWO to One), Czech: (Living Large), and Austria: (Mond): (The Musicians), Italy: (IO Sto Bene), Bulgaria: (The Trap), Lithuania: (Remember to Blink), Ireland: (Tarrac), Hungary: (Four Souls of Coyote), Sweden: (UFO Sweden), Spain: (Ramona), Romania: (Horia), Slovenia: (RIDERS).

The festival will witness the presentation of the Emirati movie “The Boy of the Mountain”, by the young Emirati director Zainab Shaheen, who tells the story of the Emirati child “Suhail”, who lives with unification and suffers from neglect from his father, because the events revolve around his adventures in the mountains of the Emirate of Fujairah, and to show his hardship and his superior determination.

The audience of cinematic films can enjoy the festival shows, whether by purchasing a ticket for each movie separately, or by obtaining a comprehensive ticket for the week’s performances, and the festival provides a unique opportunity to indulge in European and Emirati cultures, discover distinguished cinematic talents and contribute to a vital exchange of ideas.

On the sidelines of the “European Film Festival”, a three -day workshop will be held entitled: “The Film Industry and Financing: From the idea to the screen”, and the prestigious European cinematic expert, Grazella Bildeshim, is a award -winning global producer and its experience extends for more than 30 years in the film industry.

The workshop was designed specifically for producers, filmmakers, scriptwriting and professionals in the field of cinematography, and the participants will be able to refine their skills, gain valuable visions from filmmaking experts, and build a network of relationships with their creative colleagues in the field of cinema.

The “European Film Festival” aims to enhance cooperation between cinema and films in the European Union and their counterparts in the UAE, expanding the prospects for cultural exchange, and enabling local talents through exchanging experiences, visions and best practices.

The European Film Festival is a leading global initiative organized by the European Union in more than 90 countries around the world, including many Arab countries, including all the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as the festival seeks to celebrate European culture, diversity and values, and spread it through the language of cinema and its cross -border impact.
