29 Emirati medals in the “West Asia Paralympics”

The National Team for People of Determination raised its tally to 29 medals (six gold, 10 silver, and 13 bronze) in the competitions of the Fifth West Asian Paralympic Games “Muscat 2026,” after adding 15 new medals in the second day’s competitions (four gold, three silver, and eight bronze), after it had won 14 medals on the first day.

The gold medals on the second day came from Muhammad Wahdani, who won gold in the 200-meter wheelchair race, and Muhammad Youssef Othman, who won gold in the 800-meter wheelchair race, in addition to Muhammad Al-Kaabi’s gold in the discus throw, and Maryam Al-Zeyoudi’s gold in the shot put.

As for the three silver medals, they were achieved by Mohammed Yousef Othman in the 200-meter wheelchair race, Ahmed Al-Hosani in the javelin throw, and Sultan Al-Shamsi in the same competition.

In terms of the eight bronze medals, Mubarak Al Dhanhani won bronze in the javelin throw, and Ahmed Nawad won two bronze medals in the 200 and 800 meter wheelchair races, while Abdulaziz Al Kindi won bronze in the javelin throw, and Abdullah Al Mesbahi added another bronze in the same competition, and Rashid Al Zeyoudi won bronze in the javelin throw, and in the women’s category, Maryam Al Matroushi won bronze in the shot put. Siham Al-Rashidi won bronze in the javelin throw.

In the blind goalball competitions, the national team achieved a major victory over its Syrian counterpart with a score of 12-2, before losing to the Saudi team.

Our national team’s participation in the tournament’s competitions continues until February 8th, amid ambitions to continue winning medals and strengthening the UAE’s presence in Paralympic sports at the regional and continental levels.
