UAE is a leading global model in addressing and preventing drug scourge

Judge Dr. Hatem Fouad Ali, the regional representative of the Gulf region at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, confirmed that the UAE is a leading global model in addressing the scourge of drugs and preventing them.

Fouad said in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, on the sidelines of the 2025 Drug Prevention Forum, whose work was launched today in Abu Dhabi that the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is working in a strategic partnership with the UAE to enhance the efforts to combat and prevent drugs.

He expressed his happiness to participate in the “Narcotics Prevention Forum”, which is held under the slogan “A conscious family … a safe society”, and coincides with the celebration of the International Day for Narcotics Control this month, describing it as an important occasion to highlight the size of the risk of drug scourge, efforts made at the national level in the areas of control, prevention, international cooperation, treatment and rehabilitation.

He noted the UAE’s keenness to work closely with the office in order to address the risks of the drug scourge and implement many pioneering initiatives in this regard, which cover the areas of prevention, community awareness, enabling society to confront this scourge and in terms of control and promoting international cooperation as well.

He stressed that the UAE adopts an innovative vision in the field of combating the drug scourge, noting that the distinguished and fruitful partnership between the two sides has so far exceeded a decade and said: “We are happy with the UAE available the opportunity to hold this distinguished event, coinciding with the” Year of Society “.

He explained that the societal character that characterizes this event contributed to highlighting the role of different groups of society in this file, and directing their awareness towards the seriousness of this scourge, in addition to presenting the available ways by the state to assist society in efforts to address it.
