"Muslim sages" It calls for international action to find fair solutions to refugee issues

Abu Dhabi, June 20 / WAM / The Council of Muslim Elders headed by His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al -Tayeb, Sheikh of Al -Azhar Al -Sharif, affirmed that the issue of refugees is not an emergency humanitarian crisis, but rather has become a continuous test of the world’s conscience and the extent of his commitment to the principles of justice, mercy and fairness, calling for an urgent international move to find fair solutions to refugee issues and provide a helping hand to them and reduce their suffering and the Sunnah It contributes to protecting them and maintaining their right to live in dignity.

The council said in a statement on the occasion of the International Refugee Day, which falls on June 20 of each year, that the refugee issue is not just numbers and statistics, but rather painful humanitarian stories that reflect the suffering of individuals and families who extracted their most basic rights, and were deprived of safety and stability, expressing his deep concern about the exacerbation of the suffering of the refugees in light of the crises, wars and conflicts that our world is witnessing today.

He praised the leading humanitarian initiatives, which seek to provide humanitarian protection and assistance to refugees and displaced persons, meet their basic needs of shelter, food, medicine and education, ensure that they obtain their full human rights, provide support to the countries and host societies that bear the greatest burden in hosting refugees, and providing the necessary support for them.

He pointed out that the document of the human brotherhood, which was signed by the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al -Tayeb, Sheikh of Al -Azhar, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Elders, and the late Pope Francis, the Pope of the former Catholic Church, in Abu Dhabi in 2019, called for the need to alleviate the refugees, the marginalized, the poor, the needy, those who lost housing and shelter without exclusion or discrimination.
