Dubai receives 8.68 million international tourists in 5 months

The Dubai Economy and Tourism Department revealed the success of the emirate in attracting 8.68 million international tourists, during the first five months of this year, compared to 8.12 million tourists in the same period last year, with a growth of about 7%.

Statistics showed that the Western Europe region is issued in terms of the source of visitors to Dubai, based on the geographical region, assuring 22% of the total number of visitors, while the luxury hotel rooms of the category of “five -star” acquired 35% of the total size of the hotel market in Dubai, and the period of guests in Dubai hotels increased to 3.8 hotel nights compared to 3.79 nights in the same period in 2024.

In detail, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism revealed the latest statistics for the performance of the tourism sector and the number of international visitors, as the emirate’s success in attracting 8.68 million international tourists during the first five months of this year 2025, compared to 8.12 million tourists in the same period last year, with a growth of about 7%.

According to data issued by the department, “Emirates Today” obtained a copy of it, Western Europe ranked first, in terms of visitors to Dubai, based on the geographical area, valued at 22% of the total number of visitors during the period between January and May 2025, recording about 1.9 million international tourists, followed by Russia, the Association of Independent Countries and Eastern Europe with about 16%, recording about 1.4 million tourists.

In turn, the GCC region for the Arab States of the Gulf ranked third with about 15%, recording more than 1.27 million tourists, while South Asia acquired about 14% of the total number of international tourists to Dubai, also recording more than 1.24 million tourists.

For its part, the Middle East and North Africa region recorded 989 thousand tourists, or 11% of the total, while the northern and East Asian countries acquired a share of 9% of the total, recording 771 thousand international tourists.

The total number of international tourists from the Americas has reached more than 601 thousand international tourists, with two of 7% of the total number, compared to a share of about 4% for Africa, at a rate of about 346 thousand visitors, while the “Australia” region acquired a percentage of about 2% and at a rate of 141 thousand international tourists.

Hotel rooms

In addition, the number of hotel rooms in Dubai at the end of May 2025 reached more than 153.3 thousand hotel rooms within 825 hotel facilities, compared to about 150 thousand hotel rooms within 822 facilities at the end of May 2024, and the average hotel occupancy in all facilities operating in Dubai recorded 82.9% during the period between January and May 2025, compared to 81% in the same period of 2024.

The luxury hotel rooms in the category of “five” stars acquired 35% of the total size of the hotel market in Dubai, recording about 54 thousand hotel rooms within 168 hotel facilities, followed by the “four -star” hotel rooms with 29%, recording about 44.2 thousand hotel rooms within 198 facilities.

For its part, the categorical hotels between “three stars” and “Najma” acquired about 19% of the total size of the hotel market, with a capacity of 29.2 thousand hotel rooms within 276 hotel facilities, while hotel apartments recorded more than 25.7 thousand rooms within 183 facilities, to capture about 17% of the total size of the hotel market in Dubai.

The period of inmates in Dubai hotels, at the end of last May, recorded 3.8 hotel nights compared to 3.79 nights in the same period in 2024, while the number of nights (seized rooms) reached about 19 million nights compared to about 18.3 million nights overnight during the comparison period, with a growth rate of about 4%.

Daily price

The daily price of the hotel room in Dubai reached 620 dirhams during the end of May 2025, compared to 590 dirhams in the same period last year, with a growth of 5%, while the average revenue from the rooms available reached 513 dirhams at the end of last May, compared to 478 dirhams in the same period last year, with a growth of about 7%.

• The number of nights of the “seized rooms” reached about 19 million nights overnight with a growth of 4%.
