112 horses compete at the end of the Dubai Racing Carnival at Meydan Racecourse
Dubai, 11 March / WAM / Meydan Racecourse will host, on Friday evening, the 16th and final evening of the Dubai Racing Carnival season, before the start of the most prominent event on the global racing calendar, the Dubai World Cup, scheduled to be held on March 28.
The evening includes 8 diverse races held on sand and grass tracks, with the participation of 112 elite local and international horses, competing for a total of 1.785 million dirhams in prizes, at the end of the carnival competitions, which is an important stop in the horse racing season in Dubai.
The evening’s program opens with the Arabian Triple Crown Race – Round 2, which is a third category race dedicated to purebred Arabian horses aged four years, over a distance of 1,800 meters on the grass track, with prizes amounting to 250,000 dirhams, with the participation of 16 horses.
The second race will witness the competition of purebred beginner horses over a distance of 1,400 meters on the sand track, with the participation of 16 horses and prizes amounting to 165 thousand dirhams.
The third race will be held on the grass track for a distance of 1800 meters in the “Handcap” category (70-90), with the participation of 16 horses and with prizes amounting to 190 thousand dirhams, while the fourth race will be held for a distance of 1900 meters on the sand track for the same category and with the same prizes.
As for the fifth race, it will be held on the grass track for a distance of 1,600 meters in the “handcap” category, with a classification of (85-105), with the participation of 15 horses and prizes amounting to 300 thousand dirhams.
The sixth race will witness speed competitions for a distance of 1,200 meters on the sand track in the “Handcap” category (80-100), with the participation of 12 horses and prizes amounting to 250 thousand dirhams.
The seventh race will be held on the grass track for a distance of 2,410 meters in the “Handcap” category (75-95), with the participation of 12 horses and prizes amounting to 190 thousand dirhams.
The evening will conclude with the eighth race, for a distance of 1,600 meters, on the sand track, in the “Handcap” category (80-100), with the participation of 9 horses, with prizes amounting to 250,000 dirhams.
The evening is the last stop before the Dubai World Cup Night, which will be held on March 28 at the Meydan Racecourse, and attracts elite horses, riders and trainers from different countries of the world.
