China announces the completion of the largest project to develop the country’s marine gas fields in the country

The Chinese National Maritime Oil Company (Knok) has announced the full operation of the second stage of the gas field in the South China Sea, stressing that this represents the completion of the largest project to develop marine natural gas fields in the country so far.
She explained that this progress in the gas field, which is called “Shenhai Yihao” or “The Depth of the Seas No. 1”, adds to its productive capacity designed by 4.5 billion cubic meters annually.
The field, according to the Chinese “Xinhua” agency, includes proven geological reserves in excess of 150 billion cubic meters of natural gas, and production operations for the first stage of the project began in June 2021.
The second phase of the project represents the most challenging stage in the development of gas in the deep waters in China so far, as it is operated in light of the most fierce geological conditions faced by local marine exploration, which is very high temperatures and high pressure.
In addition, this stage also represents the deeper gas development project in China, where it works in depths of water exceeding 1500 meters, and depths of wells exceeding 5000 meters.
