“The Best Player in the World” with meningitis

The Spanish midfield star, Itana Punmati, who won the Golden Ball Award for Best Player in the World twice, entered the hospital for her viral meningitis.

Bunmati, who is defending Barcelona’s colors, was absent from Spain’s friendly victory over Japan, last Friday.

In a statement yesterday, the Spanish Federation announced that the Golden Ball’s Bunmati in 2023 and 2024 “is subject to continuous medical monitoring”, after tests showed that she had viral meningitis.

Punati, 27, posted a photo of her as she was on hospital bed.
