Hamdan bin Zayed looks at the strategic framework of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Liwa Festival Plan 2025

Abu Dhabi, July 4/ WAM/ His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the representative of the ruler in the Al -Dhafra region, received at Al -Seef Palace in Abu Dhabi, a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority headed by His Excellency Fares Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Authority, in the context of supporting the rational leadership of national efforts in preserving heritage and enhancing his presence in society.
During the meeting, the strategic framework of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, which includes more than 62 projects and 231 activities, was reviewed, and embodies the authority’s vision in consolidating the values of the national identity associated with heritage and strengthening them through generations.
The framework aims to develop talents in the heritage and poetic fields, enable the heritage economy by supporting crafts and handicrafts, in addition to enhancing the presence of Emirati heritage on the world arena.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that preserving our authentic heritage and transferring it to future generations is a national and societal responsibility, through which we translate the vision of our rational leadership and our rooted identity, stressing that the Emirati heritage will remain a beating present in the lives of our children and a source of pride and pride.
His Highness pointed out that this interest comes within the framework of the directives and continuous support from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, who attaches the Emirati heritage a great importance, as a key pillar of national identity, and a source of inspiration for generations.
His Highness praised the efforts and cadres of the commission, appreciating the initiatives that keep pace with the aspirations of society and the preservation of the memory of the country, directed to the need to expand the scope of events and develop awareness -raising and media awareness methods in a way that enhances the cultural presence of the UAE locally and internationally.
His Highness also reviewed the details of the Al -Dhafra Festival and Events plan, which is targeted annually more than 450 thousand visitors, and under it the most prominent events such as the Liwa Wet Festival, which celebrates its 21st session, and attracts more than 116 thousand visitors, with a budget exceeding 14 million dirhams.
The festival aims to support farmers and productive farms, stimulate the economic and tourism movement in the region, in addition to consolidating the status of the palm tree as an authentic symbol in the Emirati heritage.
The festival includes 23 diverse competitions, the most prominent of which are wet and summer fruits competitions and many other competitions, with a total of prizes exceeding 8 million dirhams, in addition to specialized suites such as participating parties with specialization and popular markets, productive families, and heritage crafts, which enhances societal participation and stimulates future generations to adhere to authentic customs and traditions.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Nasser Muhammad Al -Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in the Al -Dhafra region, His Excellency Abdullah Mubarak Al -Muhairi, Director General of the Authority, His Excellency Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Festival and Events Sector, and Shamm Mazhoubouni, Director of the Strategic Planning and Innovation Sector, and Zayed Saari Al Mazrouei, Head of Events Department in the Authority.
