On behalf of the President of the State, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi presides over the UAE delegation in the work of the 17th summit of the leaders of the Group "Brex"
Rio de Janeiro on July 6 / WAM / on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, presided over His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the delegation of the United Arab Emirates participating in the work of the 17th summit of the leaders of the “BRICS” group, which was opened by the luxury of Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, President of the Federal Republic Brazilian Janeiro.
The summit – which is chaired by Brazil in its role this year under the slogan “enhancing global cooperation between the countries of the south for more comprehensive and sustainable governance” – is held – with the participation of leaders and heads of governments in a number of group countries and heads of delegations of the invited countries, as well as representatives of a number of regional, continental and international organizations.
His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan delivered the speech of the UAE and conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, to the participating countries, and his sincere wishes for the success of the summit’s work in strengthening a balanced international partnership based on cooperation, development and mutual respect.
His Highness stressed the importance of the group as a platform to enhance understanding and achieve strategic rapprochement to face urgent global challenges, whether economic or humanitarian or related to the escalation of geopolitical tensions, and said that building strong partnerships based on the foundations of sustainable development and mutual prosperity will contribute to serving our peoples and enhancing the interests of our countries.
His Highness stressed the firm belief of the UAE that constructive dialogue and economic integration are among the most important pillars to achieve international stability, stressing the state’s support for the group’s expansion of the scope of strategic cooperation between countries, regional blocs and international organizations.
The summit witnessed a high -level dialogue session, in the presence of the leaders of the group’s countries and heads of delegations of the participating countries. The most prominent economic and development issues of common concern, including enhancing cooperation between the global southern countries, reforming the international governance system, supporting the use of local currencies in trade exchanges, as well as discussing ways to accelerate the transformation towards the green economy, develop mechanisms for financing climate work initiatives, enhancing responsible governance of technologies artificial intelligence.
The dialogue session stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships in the fields of food security, health and technology, through the commitment of the group’s countries to support comprehensive and sustainable development, in a way that serves the aspirations of peoples around the world.
The United Arab Emirates is participating in the summit for the second time as a member of the “BRICS” group, which was established in 2009 to enhance political and economic cooperation between emerging economies.
