"Women’s Union" and"International Telecommunications" They cooperate to enhance the digital leadership of women

Abu Dhabi, July 10 / WAM / The General Women’s Union participated in the work of the high -level meeting of the network of ministers and leaders in information and communications technology, which was held yesterday in Geneva, within the activities of the World Summit of the Information Society “WSIS+20”, within the framework of the efforts of the UAE to enhance international partnerships in the field of digitizing women.
The Women’s Union took care of the second gathering of the network, in the context of supporting international efforts towards promoting digital transformation and empowering women.
The participation included the signing of a joint international cooperation agreement between the General Women’s Federation and the International Telecommunication Union, in the presence of His Excellency Noura Khalifa Al-Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, and His Excellency Doreen Bougdan-Carton, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in empowering women and girls from digital skills and technological development.
The signing of the agreement comes from the commitment of the two parties to the United Nations sustainable development goals, especially the fifth goal concerned with achieving gender equality, and in an effort to enhance the participation of women in the digital economy.
Cooperation includes multiple areas, including building digital capabilities for women and girls, encouraging girls to study scientific and technological specializations, and exchange best regional and international practices.
His Excellency Noura Khalifa Al -Suwaidi emphasized that this international cooperation translates the directives of the rational leadership of the UAE, and the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Emirates”, President of the General Women’s Federation, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, which made digital transformation and empowering women two main pillars in the process of sustainable development.
Her Excellency explained that this agreement constitutes a distinctive cooperation platform with one of the most prominent international organizations, which contributes to expanding the scope of programs and initiatives aimed at building the capabilities of women and girl in the digital sector.
She added: “We are proud of the General Women’s Union to be an active partner in building a comprehensive and safe technical environment, which provides women a pivotal role in societal and economic development, in cooperation with our international partners.”
For its part, His Excellency Doreen Bougdan-Camiten, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, indicated the importance of this partnership, and said that cooperation with the General Women’s Union reflects the commitment of the common sides towards women and girls in the digital space, especially those who live in remote and deprived societies, so that it can acquire skills, self-confidence, and the necessary guidance to build their future professional paths.
For her part, Eng. Ghalia Ali Al -Mannai, Head of Strategic and Development Affairs in the General Women’s Union, explained that the signing of this agreement reflects the union’s keenness to employ international partnerships to support women in the path of digital transformation locally and globally, noting that belief in digital empowerment is the basis in the era of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, and she said: “We will work through this partnership, to develop qualitative initiatives that enhance The capabilities of women and girls in digital skills, and open new prospects for entrepreneurship, scientific research, and decision -making in digital fields.
The signing of this declaration embodies the General Women’s Union’s keenness to expand its contributions to the leading international initiatives, based on its pivotal role in supporting the UAE’s directions in the field of digital empowerment of women, and contributing to building an integrated and sustainable digital society that establishes the principle of totalitarianism, and enhances the role of women in formulating the future of technology and development.
