(Dubai Roads) Field tests are conducted in China for alliances participating in "Dubai Self -Driving Challenge 2025"

BEIJING, on July 14 / WAM / The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai conducted comprehensive field tests for the alliances of the companies participating in the fourth session of the Dubai World Self -Driving Challenge 2025, whose prize value is 3 million US dollars, in four Chinese cities: Guangzhou, Sayyan, Queiang and Sochu.
Ahmed Hashem Behozian, Executive Director of the Public Transportation Corporation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Self -Driving Conference, said that the visit carried out by the technical team of the authority to China aimed to assess the technical and operational performance of the vehicles participating in realistic environments, understand the actual capabilities of each alliance, and get to know the work environment and its control centers, as well as discuss the next steps for implementation in Dubai.
Behrozian explained that the visit included the evaluation of five self -driving vehicles representing multiple categories, including taxis, buses, water vehicle and logistical transport mechanism, using accurate methodologies and advanced measuring devices, with the participation of the advisory jury consisting of the “Fev Consulting” and “Arthur D. Little” as well as technical experts.
He pointed out that the Roads and Transport Authority developed an integrated methodology of the tests that included three main types, which included tests when stable to measure sensor coverage and safety systems, and mixed traffic tests to measure the interaction with the road and traffic lights, and tests in an environment dedicated to simulating real scenarios such as the user’s journey and interaction with pedestrians.
The number of tests reached 5 per vehicle in the first category, 17 tests for wild and 6 water vehicles in the second category, and 3 wild and 7 water or logistical tests in the third category.
This evaluation comes within the authority’s preparations to organize the “Dubai World Self -Driving Conference” in its fourth session under the slogan “Re -definition of transportation: the path towards smart movement”, which will be held from 24 to 25 September, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai. The conference is a global platform that brings together experts in legislation, technologies and research, and aims to accelerate the shift towards smart transportation, within the framework of Dubai’s vision to achieve 25% of self -driving trips by 2030
