Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Ramadan Championship – Al Wathba 2026 enhances the values of the Year of the Family

Abu Dhabi, 14 March / WAM / The Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ramadan Championship, “Al Wathba 2026”, has established its prominent position in the sports scene during the holy month of Ramadan, thanks to its inspiring legacy, the diversity of its activities and the great momentum of participation in its competitions, which included 16 sports competitions for different ages, with remarkable participation from inside and outside the country, in conjunction with the declaration of 2026 as the “Year of the Family”.
The large prizes allocated by the organizing committee contributed to strengthening the tournament’s position among the most prominent sporting and community events held in the country during the holy month, after announcing the allocation of 10 million dirhams in prizes to the winners of the participants and the public, over a period of 23 continuous days.
The tournament provides an integrated, interactive sports experience that combines the spirit of fair competition and the authentic Ramadan atmosphere, in addition to enabling the community to practice physical activities and spread the values of tolerance and communication between generations, within a sports, community and cultural system that combines competition and recreational activities, and contributes to consolidating the tournament’s position as a global destination for community and sporting events, with the best international practices.
The various tournament competitions witnessed distinguished artistic levels from the participants in all competitions, in addition to a large audience of community groups in an expressive atmosphere that reflects the importance of the event, especially with the organizing committee’s keenness to motivate the fans through many diverse prizes, which constituted an incentive to attend, follow, and take children to experience the atmosphere of the various competitions throughout the days of the tournament.
The various fields at the tournament headquarters within the Al Wathba Festival received wide praise from observers and participants, due to their compliance with modern specifications, and keeping pace with the tournament’s direction of providing an appropriate environment that allows community members to practice sports activities in a stimulating atmosphere.
The committee supervising the stadiums also provided a distinguished organizational experience by constructing and equipping various sports arenas in record time, reflecting the level of professionalism in organizing the tournament and the great interest it receives, in line with the aspirations of community members.
During the tournament, many distinguished talents emerged in various sports competitions, as male and female players presented high artistic levels, embodying the importance of the event in highlighting the advanced capabilities of the participants, and its role in discovering talents and motivating them to develop their potentials, and benefiting from the diverse experiences provided by participation in various events with great confidence in artistic abilities.
The championship competitions were characterized by a remarkable presence of parents to follow its activities, encourage their children, and motivate them to achieve the best results and benefit from the experiences gained through positive participation, which reinforces the importance of the championship in supporting community cohesion and consolidating values that are in line with national trends supporting the role of the family in society.
Football competitions, through the diverse participation of players residing in the country or coming from brotherly and friendly countries, along with other sports activities such as jiu-jitsu, chess, judo, muay thai, volleyball, basketball, padel, cricket, traditional Emirati heritage “fighting” competitions, and other events, contributed to highlighting the integrated image of coexistence between communities in the UAE, and affirming the values of tolerance among members of society, in a scene that reflects the country’s global status in embracing different cultures and peoples within a social fabric. Ali Khoury, a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, said that the championship activities formed an important basis for community and sports activities coinciding with the Year of the Family 2026, in light of the great demand from various age groups to participate in competitions or follow matches and fights since its launch at the beginning of the month of Ramadan, with the aim of enhancing societal values and establishing a positive and stimulating environment for family members to practice sports and support the success of sports programs and events.
Awad Al Mansouri, Assistant Secretary-General of the Emirates Volleyball Federation, stressed that the tournament presented positive messages that reflect the importance of joint work and cooperation in implementing sports and community initiatives, instilling the values of good leadership in the hearts of members of society, and encouraging them to practice sports and interact with the atmosphere accompanying the tournament’s activities, which met expectations and ambitions.
He added that the event is part of a sports system that goes beyond the concept of competition to broader values that reflect the authenticity of Emirati society and the vision of its wise leadership in enhancing communication between peoples and exchanging cultures, and reviving the atmosphere of the month of Ramadan through sports activities and initiatives that enhance community cohesion, in addition to the role of sports competitions in consolidating the values of competition under the slogan “Everyone is a Winner.”
