Mansour bin Zayed visits the Liwa Wet Festival and emphasizes the importance of agriculture and the support of farmers in enhancing food security

Liwa, July 14/ WAM/ His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Bureau, visited the activities of the 21st edition of the Liwa Wet Festival, held in Liwa, Al Dhafra Region, which is organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority under the auspices of His Highness, and is considered one of the most prominent agricultural and heritage festivals in the country.
During the tour, His Highness reviewed a number of government and private pavilions that offer their services and innovations in the agricultural field.
His Highness also met the jury of wet moods and fruit competitions, and was briefed on the participation of the contestants in the mood of wet dasy and the greatest excuse and creativity of the palm tree, and visited the traditional crafts area, palm trees, agricultural tools, the wet market and the popular market.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that the agriculture and food production sector is witnessing significant growth in the country thanks to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, and his supportive support to enable farmers, producers and manufacturers to ensure the sustainability of food production and the promotion of food security in the state.
His Highness appreciated the continuous follow -up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, and his efforts in developing the Al Dhafra region and developing festivals and events that contribute to highlighting the original Emirati heritage, and attracts experts and specialists in various fields.
His Highness stressed that the festival embodies the link of the Emirati citizen to the land, and enhances the national identity by celebrating the palm as an authentic cultural symbol, noting that supporting local agriculture and empowering farmers contributes to achieving a balanced economic distribution and sustainable development, integrating with the national trend towards achieving food self -sufficiency.
His Highness praised the role of the festival in stimulating the economic movement in the Al -Dhafra region, by attracting thousands of visitors annually, and providing a platform that brings together farmers, experts, and pioneers of agricultural industries, which establishes the agricultural sector as a vital tributary in the national economic system.
During the tour, His Highness was accompanied by His Excellency Fares Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and a number of officials at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.
The Liwa Wet Festival includes many competitions, with a total prizes of more than 8.7 million dirhams, where the festival includes a number of heritage activities and activities that contribute to preserving the heritage of the palm and consolidating its position, as a symbol of the originality of the past and the good of the present, in addition to strengthening family and community ties and maintaining the communication of generations, and consolidating the values of cooperation and belonging to them, and preserving Cultural heritage, in order to achieve the goals of the general community in the UAE.
The festival is an important activity to support the local community and the families produced in the region, through the popular market that includes wet sale shops, dates products, and what is related to palm trees, factories and nurseries, along with the wings of sponsors, supporters and participation. Its activities include daily activities for the theater that include competitions and daily prizes for attendance and shows of folklore teams, lectures, seminars and various evenings.
