“Incredible transportation, heavy and delicious fuel,” Gaza residents face the hardship of movement

Mohamed Saad, who was displaced from the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, told the United Nations News reporter in Gaza while waiting for the movement of the vehicle that dragged the vehicle that was sitting inside: “Transportation is very difficult and unsafe. The roads are exhausting. We pray to God to inspire us with patience and return to our homes.”.
This was on Al -Rashid Street, west of the city, which connects the northern and southern Gaza Strip, crowded with vehicles, cars and motorcycles with three wheels that were also transferred into transportation. This mixes with the tents of the displaced, while all this is surrounded by the rubble of the destroyed buildings on both sides of the road.
Transportation is a luxury not for everyone
In the place designated for passengers on the back of the three -wheeled motorcycle, our correspondent, Umm Haitham Al -Kulk, said that she said that “People hardly find what they eat, so how will they pay transportation? Most of our movements are running on foot, we cannot ride transportation. God was in the help of drivers, the prices of fuel are high, and the people are exhausted and overlooked.”.

Umm Haitham Elkok sits in a three -wheeled motorcycle trailer on her way back to her family. The long distance usually travels on foot, as you cannot afford the cost of exorbitant transportation.
Fuel rate burden
Drivers are paying 100 shekels (about 27 US dollars) for a single diesel liter, which is a heavy burden, as he told our driver Abdul Karim Abu Assi as he is waiting for the completion of his car loading with passengers.
He added: “The price of a liter of diesel has reached 100 shekels, what do we do? We try to use locally manufactured fuel, but it causes great damage to cars, and causes many problems.”.
This is not the only problem you face, as Abdel Karim complained that he “The prices of auto parts are very high, for example a piece that was about 100 shekels, today it is sold by about 2000 shekels (about 560 US dollars). We also suffer from the destruction of the streets, and whatever the municipalities tried to repair it, the problem is not solved, because it needs a large number of bulldozers to clean them. People must help in transportation and in many other aspects.”.

The price of a liter of fuel reached about 100 shekels in the Gaza Strip.
A single option
Despite all the challenges, people are proceeding there to spend the matters of their daily lives even if it takes to move from one place to the end of the whole day, as is the case with Hussein Al -Hamarneh, who was waiting inside a car that would travel to the southern Gaza Strip.
Hussein believes that most of these means of transportation “Uncomfortable like tuktuk (three -wheeled motorcycles), cars that are designed to transport goods or animals, not humans.”.
But he added that “This is the only option for those who do not have cars.”.
As for Tayseer Abu Asr, who works to call on passengers and organize their riding on a car drawn by a car, he said to our correspondent while standing on the part in which the car drips these vehicles, “We are trying to help people move. These vehicles have become our only way after the destruction of buses and taxis.”.
It is noteworthy that the sector is suffering from a fuel crisis, as international agencies warned at the beginning of this week that the lack of fuel in Gaza has reached critical levels, warning that when the fuel runs out, it throws a new burden that cannot be tolerated on the population.
