A joint statement on the occasion of Mohammed bin Zayed’s visit to Türkiye

Based on the brotherly relations that bring together the UAE and the Turkish Republic, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, visited a state to the Turkish Republic, on the occasion of the first meeting of the Supreme Strategic Committee between the two countries, which was held in Ankara, on July 16, 2025.

The meeting of the Supreme Strategic Committee reflected the two countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding close cooperation between the two countries, in various fields of common concern, which reflects the wide -ranging partnership between the UAE and the Turkish Republic.

The talks dealt with a number of areas of cooperation that have witnessed an accelerated growth during the past years, which included the economy, trade, defense, innovation, cybersecurity, industry, technology, education, culture and energy, including renewable energy, environment, transportation, infrastructure, agriculture and tourism.

Within the framework of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement, and based on bilateral economic, commercial and investment mechanisms, including the Joint Economic Committee and the Joint Economic and Commercial Committee, the two sides discussed ways to enhance investments and trade exchanges, which include discussing opportunities to establish integrated and flexible commercial roads, in addition to discussing areas of cooperation to enhance sustainable economic growth and provide facilities to support regional and international trade.
The two sides also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors in the two countries, with the aim of consolidating bilateral partnerships and supporting cooperation opportunities with other countries.

The two sides also renewed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, and they emphasized the pivotal role of sustainable, safe and varied energy resources in advancing economic growth, and enhancing the ability to adapt to climate change. They stressed their joint aspirations aimed at discussing practical opportunities to support the process of transformation in the field of energy, in line with national priorities.

In this regard, the two sides welcomed the global goal in paragraph (28) of the results of the “global outcome” that were adopted at the Conference of the Parties (COP28), which is to double the rate of improving energy efficiency globally, and increasing the productive capacity of renewable energy to three times by 2030, and affirmed their keenness to contribute to achieving this goal through measures implemented at the two national levels.

The two sides also renewed their joint commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation based on mutual trust and friendship ties, especially in the fields of renewable energy and hydrocarbons, through the implementation of joint projects, in a way that achieves the interests of the two countries.

The two sides also stressed the importance of the United Nations Water Conference 2026, hosted by the UAE in partnership with the Republic of Senegal, scheduled for the UAE in December 2026, where the conference highlights the importance of accelerating the implementation of the sixth goal of sustainable development goals, to ensure water and sanitation services for all, and manage it in a sustainable manner. The two sides also praised the “Mohammed bin Zayed Water Initiative” for its prominent contributions in promoting technological innovation in facing the challenges related to the scarcity of water.

The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining the remarkable progress in bilateral relations, and highlighting the emerging and advanced technologies as a promising field of cooperation in the future. They also stressed the importance of highlighting the pivotal and dynamic role of young cadres with advanced educational attainment in the two countries, in advancing innovation and enhancing competitiveness and sustainable economic growth, and renewed the two sides their keenness to consolidate cooperation in the field of advanced digital technologies.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, and His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Turkish Republic, stressed the importance of cooperation in the cultural and social fields, and agreed to enhance exchanges that contribute to documenting the bonds of brotherhood between the Emirati and Turkish peoples.

The two sides reiterated their keenness to enhance cooperation in the fields of defense and security through capacity building and exchanging experiences and knowledge.

This historical visit was a pivotal station to discuss bilateral issues and regional developments, during which the two sides affirmed their joint commitment to work together to enhance dialogue and the principles of international law, which reflects the role of the two countries in supporting security, stability and regional prosperity in a way that contributes to achieving a environment that prevails in peace, stability, security and prosperity in the region.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Turkish Republic, for the warm reception that His Highness and his accompanying delegation had during their visit to Turkey.

In this context, the two sides witnessed the signing of seven bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding.

The two sides agreed to hold the next meeting of the Supreme Strategic Committee in Abu Dhabi during the year 2026, to be determined by the appointment through diplomatic channels.

This joint statement was approved on July 16, 2025.
