Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhbout crowns the Indian champion with the qualification card "Grand Swiss 2025"

Al -Ain on July 24 / WAM / Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, President of the Asian Chess Confederation, great international professor, Branaf Venakic from India, crowned a card to qualify for the “Grand Swiss 2025” championship, after his victory over the great international professor Nobbec Kazepick from Kazakhstan in the decisive round yesterday evening at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
The nullity ruled to a second round in the “Wild Card Match” chess challenge, after they tied in the first round, and Venakic succeeded in resolving the victory after about 5 hours of continuous play, amid a great mental focus from both sides, and ended with 71 shifts for each player, in a confrontation described as one of the most exciting matches at the level of individual championships for global qualification.
Hisham Al -Taher, Secretary -General of the Asian Chess Federation, stressed that the “Wild Card Match Challenge” is a new model in Asian tournaments, and establishes the status of chess in the region, especially after the distinctive level of the world’s youth unemployment for 2024 and 2025, which is an important step towards promoting continental competitiveness at the international level.
It is noteworthy that the “Wild Card Match” challenge was organized in Al Ain, at the initiative of Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, and was organized by Al Ain Chess and Mental Games, in cooperation with the Emirates Chess Federation, and the supervision of the Asian and International Federations, with an Emirati arbitration participation chaired by international referee Ahmed Al -Nuaimi, with the help of international wisdom, Moza Al -Maamari.
