المملكة: A memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Space Agency and the United Nations in several fields
Signed Memorandum of Understanding with , represented by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), within the work of 2026, within the framework of strengthening international cooperation and supporting initiatives aimed at sustaining space and promoting its responsible use.
The memorandum aims to establish a framework for cooperation between the two sides in areas of common interest related to the peaceful uses of outer space, in accordance with the rules, regulations, policies and procedures in force by both parties.
Strategic direction
The memorandum reflects a strategic direction represented in strengthening cooperation with the United Nations system, developing the level of coordination and raising the effectiveness of Existing partnerships, which contribute to maximizing mutual benefit between relevant parties.
It also enhances the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as an active and influential country in the space sector, in a way that serves its interests and strategic goals at the regional and international levels.
The memorandum contributes to facilitating the sharing of expertise, information and technologies, implementing joint activities in priority areas, and supporting training programs and building sustainable national capabilities.
Areas of cooperation
Areas of cooperation include, supporting Initiatives related to the peaceful use and sustainability of space, and capacity building in space science and engineering through education, training, research, development and innovation, in addition to exchanging experiences in space science, satellite technologies and space exploration.
This memorandum comes as an extension of the Saudi Space Agency’s keenness to expand its international partnerships and enhance the Kingdom’s contribution to global efforts aimed at sustaining space and its peaceful uses as a common resource for humanity.
