The strongest decades … an earthquake that strikes eastern Russia and causes tsunami

A strong earthquake of 8.8 degrees of the Camchatka Peninsula in the far east of Russia today, which was followed by a tsunami, and the height of the waves reached four meters, which officials said was damaged to buildings and pushed to issue warnings and evacuation operations across the Pacific Ocean.
A number of people were injured in the remote Russian region, while orders were issued to evacuate most of the eastern coast of Japan, which was previously destroyed by a strong earthquake in 2011.
“Today’s earthquake was dangerous and is the strongest for decades,” Camchatka Vladimir Soludov said in a video posted on Telegram.
Sergey Leipidiv, the region’s Minister of Emergency, said a three or four meters high in parts of Kamchatka was recorded, and the residents urged to move away from the coast.
The American Geological Survey reported that the earthquake was at a depth of 19.3 km, and its center was about 119 km from Petrobavloffsk-Kamcatsky, a city with a population of 165 thousand people. The commission adjusted the severity of the earthquake of eight degrees earlier, and reported a strong tremor of 6.9 degrees shortly after that.
The Japanese Meteorological Authority raised its warning, saying that it expects the arrival of tsunami to reach a height of three meters to many coastal areas.
Warning sirens were launched to warn of a tsunami in coastal towns along the coast of Japan overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and the authorities urged the public to search for a high land.
Footage broadcast by the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation showed dozens of people on the northern island of Hokkaido on the roof of a building that takes place under the tents of sunlight, while hunting boats left the ports to avoid the possible damage caused by the coming waves.
The Tokyo Electricity Company said that the workers evacuated the Fukushima nuclear station, as it caused the collapse that followed the tsunami in 2011 in a radiological disaster.
Japanese cabinet chief Japanese Yoshimasa Hayaishi said that no injuries or damage have been recorded yet, nor disturbances in any of the nuclear power plants.
Warnings across the Pacific Ocean
The Tsunami warning system in the United States issued a warning of “dangerous tsunami” in the next three hours.
He added that it is possible that the height of the waves will exceed three meters along some coasts of Russia and Ecuador, while it is likely to range between one and three meters in Japan, Hawaii, Chile and the Solomon Islands.
It is also possible that the smaller waves will arrive along the coasts of most of the Pacific Ocean, including the western coast of the United States.
“Because of a massive earthquake in the Pacific Ocean, a warning was issued that a tsunami may have occurred to those who live in Hawaii,” US President Donald Trump said in a post on a social media platform.
“A tsunami warning that includes Alaska and the Pacific Coast of the United States. Japan is also on the way,” he added.
Hawaii ordered the evacuation of the population from some coastal areas. “Move! It is expected that devastating tsunami is expected,” said Honollo’s Emergency Administration on X.
Hawaii’s warning urged the low -district residents to move either to high areas or to the floors of no less than the fourth.
The Minister of Health in the region, Olig Melnikov, told the Russian news agency that many sought medical help after the earthquake.
“Unfortunately, some people were injured during the earthquake. Some of them were wounded while running abroad, and one of the patients jumped from the window. A woman was also injured inside the new airport building.”
The Russian Ministry of Emergency said through Telegram that the tsunami watered parts of the port of Seviro-Corclic in Sakhlin and a fish processing factory. People were evacuated from there.
The ministry added that a kindergarten was also damaged, but most of the buildings have withstood the earthquake and there were no news of serious injuries or deaths.
Fiery belt
The Russian Camchatka and Al -Aqsa are located on the fiery belt area in the Pacific Ocean, which is an active geological and vulnerable area of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
The Russian Academy of Sciences said this earthquake is the strongest earthquake that has been hitting the region since 1952.
“Nevertheless, given the features of the earthquake center, the severity of the vibration was not high … as expected of such strength,” said Daniela Chibrov, Director of the Geophysics Authority, in Kamchatka, via Telegram.
“The shocks are currently continuing … and their intensity will remain relatively high. However, stronger tremors are not expected in the near future,” she added.
