"Emirati Emia Power" Participates in the expansion of the desalination plant in Agadir al -Maghribi

Abu Dhabi, on August 1 / WAM / The UAE company, “Emia Power”, announced one of the fastest growing energy companies in the region, its participation in the implementation of the expansion of the water desalination plant in Agadir in the Kingdom of Morocco, which is implemented by the Spanish facilities group “Cox” specializing in water and energy facilities.
The volume of the project investment reaches 250 million yoer equivalent to 288 million US dollars, and the expansion project, which will be completed in 2027, will add about 125 thousand cubic meters of water per day to the current production capacity of the project to rise to 400 thousand cubic meters of water per day, which means providing drinking water for two million people, and irrigate 13.6 thousand hectares of agricultural land, in one of the most affected areas of water scarcity.
The water desalination plant will be supplied with the energy needed to operate it from the wind power plant in the El -Ayoun area, which will be operated by “Aymia Power” with a production capacity of 150 megawatts, as it is expected to start production for this station in 2027.
Once the Agadir desalination plant operates, it will become the first water desalination plant in North Africa, and one of the largest water desalination plants in Africa.
His Excellency Hussein Jassim Al -Nuwais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Amy Power”, said that the company continues to achieve successes and projects that support sustainable development in various countries of the world, especially those countries that seek to increase their dependence on renewable energy sources and raise the efficiency of the water sector, stressing that participation in the implementation of the station expansion project through the Water Alliance Ventures platform reflects the company’s ambition to contribute to addressing water and energy challenges through Integrated solutions, indicates what can be accomplished through long -term partnerships for sustainable development throughout the region.
It is noteworthy that “Alya Power” has acquired a stake in the Spanish company specialized in water and energy solutions during a preliminary proposal for recent shares in the Spanish financial markets of 3.76%, within the framework of a strategic plan for Emia Power that includes entering into the field of sea water desalination and the production of green hydrogen in the Middle East and Africa to face the great scarcity of water.
