On the other hand, two officials in the retail sector stated that these practices are “individual” in some stores, and they are due to companies supplied to the countries of origin, or the difficulty of increasing the volume of the data card with the increase in information on some commodities, and it is exported to several countries, and the commodity packages are in a small size.

“The lack of clarity of the data of the cards affixed to some imported food commodities is sometimes due to the small size of the commodity packages, and the presence of a large number of data, which makes it difficult to increase the size of the data line in the Arabic language for components or their lineage in the product,” noting that “according to the requirements of the products display, it must have stickers in the Arabic language.”

According to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law in the Emirates, the provider of commodities, when displaying any product for trading, must adhere to its cover or packaging with a card in the Arabic language is clear and understandable and can be read, prominently, and that the cards include the name, type, nature, components, date of production, expiration date, country of origin, and how to use if possible, and the correct unit of scale.
