China: "Silk road" A strategic pillar within an initiative "Belt and road"
BEIJING, on August 20/ WAM/ China confirmed that the “Air Silk Road” is one of the main strategic pillars in the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, for its role in enhancing international cooperation and joint development between countries participating in the initiative.
A recent report, reported by Al -Shaab daily online, revealed on the development of building the Silk Road, and issued by the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration in cooperation with the National Development and Reform Committee, that Chinese airlines are running regular passengers to 61 countries participating in the initiative, as well as air freight trips to 33 countries, bringing the total countries covered by international flights to 110 countries, including the six economic corridors for the initiative.
According to the report, until the end of June 2025, China has signed governmental transport agreements with 107 countries participating in the “Belt and Road”, which represents about 70% of the total countries under the initiative.
The report indicated that from 2017 until mid -2025, 1.559 million flights have been implemented, which transported about 200 million passengers, and nearly 6 million tons of shipments and mail, representing about 59% of the total international air transport in China during this period.
The report pointed out that the experience of China in building the Silk Road was based on four main principles: openness and inclusion to enhance interconnection, joint development to achieve justice and inclusion, and innovation to support the dynamics of growth, as well as giving priority to environmental sustainability to achieve green development.
The Chinese Civil Aviation Authority emphasized that the next stage will focus on strengthening cooperation with the countries participating in future fields, including artificial intelligence, green development, and low space economy, in order to convert the “Silk Road” into a corridor for prosperous development, civilized communication, and enhance joint security.
