A joint residence for women only in China to escape pressure

In one of the mountainous villages of the East China Province of Zhejiang, the grooves are in a white rural circuit that turned into a joint residence for women only, under the name “Kiki Fantasy World”.

The place founded by the young Qin Yani (30 years old), known as “Kiki”, has become a haven for women looking for “safety, freedom, and friendships”, away from social pressures and male rulings.

Women participating in this housing pay a symbolic fee starting with 30 yuan (about $ 4.2) per night, and 80 yuan ($ 11) starting from the fourth day. During residency, cooking and daily activities sharing, and they talk freely about emotional and personal issues that are difficult to discuss in the presence of men.

The Chen -Yani Foundation explains that its motivation to create this place came after it was exposed to repeated harassment of men during its work in the field of entrepreneurship, which made her search for a safe space free of anxiety.

With the spread of the experiment through the “Xiahhongcho” platform (known as “Chinese Instagram”), the idea was widely popular with women who wanted to escape family pressure, especially during Chinese New Year holidays where strong pressure is practiced on unmarried women.

Similar initiatives began to appear in other regions of China, such as the “area” of Yang Yun, and gives permanent membership for 3980 yuan ($ 554). The goal is not only housing, but to provide women’s solidarity and mental and moral support for subscribers.

Despite the criticism of these initiatives of fueling gender hostility, its institutions confirm that the goal is to empower women and find safe spaces for self -expression.
