Dubai, August 29/ WAM/ His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, held a meeting with the Vietnamese Business Council in the UAE to discuss ways to enable the business community in the two countries to fully benefit from the opportunities that the comprehensive economic partnership agreement signed last October, as soon as it enters into force.
His Excellency Thani Al -Zyoudi, during the meeting held yesterday in Dubai, focused on the importance of Vietnam as a major commercial partner for the UAE, noting that the value of non -oil trade between the two countries reached about the first half of 2025 about 7.02 billion US dollars, recording a growth of 16.9% compared to the same period in 2024, and a quarterly increase of 6.4%, and thus Vietnam continued to maintain its position as the largest trade partner other than Oil for the UAE within the ASEAN countries.
This performance reflects the acceleration of the growth pace recorded in 2024, as non -oil trade increased by 4% to $ 12.6 billion, an increase of 54.3% compared to 2019.
His Excellency Al -Zyoudi affirmed the UAE’s commitment to continuing to develop bilateral trade with Vietnam and upgrade investment paths to support industrial development, noting the UAE and Vietnam keenness to achieve mutual growth by expanding opportunities for the private sector in our state.
He said we designed the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between us to open new markets in front of our sources and increase access to global supply chains, and the two countries must build links to benefit from their entire capabilities, in light of our solid foundations that can be built on, where our business communities benefit from the wide bilateral exchange, and we are now enjoying a good position that allows us to develop a variety of new opportunities for investors, entrepreneurs and companies.
His Excellency added that we see the fruits of close cooperation between our two countries; Through our support for the logistical infrastructure in Vietnam, including the advanced container station in Ho Chee from it and new shipping services via the Mekong River Delta, we drew a clear path towards further growth and prosperity, in light of the aspiration to the next stage to expand these central investments and enhance our presence in the Vietnamese market.
The UAE has strong economic ties with the ASEAN region, where it has concluded comprehensive economic partnership agreements with Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam, which helped to raise the value of the non -oil foreign trade of the UAE with the ASEAN countries to 37.7 billion dollars in 2024, with a growth of 4.2% compared to 2023 and 16.8% compared to 2022, while the ASEAN countries constituted 4.6% of the total non -oil trade of the UAE with the world in 2024, and 11.3% of its trade with non -Arab Asian countries.
