The UAE and the United Kingdom conclude a strategic dialogue to combat illegal financing

London, September 3 / WAM / The government of the United Arab Emirates and the government of His Majesty in the United Kingdom concluded important bilateral meetings in London, held from 2 to 3 September 2025, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in combating illegal financial crimes at the global level. The visit was chaired by His Excellency Hamid Al -Zaabi, Secretary -General and Deputy Chairman of the National Committee to counter money laundering and combating terrorist financing and financing of illegal organizations (Namlcftc), and was received by Dan Garfis, Minister of State for Security Affairs in the United Kingdom.

Senior officials from the British Treasury and the Ministry of Economy in the UAE, the British Ministry of Interior and the UAE Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and British Development, the Royal Prosecution Authority and the UAE Ministry of Justice, the Customs Authority and the UAE Customs and Customs, the National Center for the Combating Economic Crime, and the Financial Information Units in both countries, in addition to other major institutions from the UAE and the United Kingdom.

The two -day visit confirmed the depth of the strategic partnership between the UAE and the United Kingdom in protecting the international financial system and addressing illegal financial networks that enable serious and organized crimes across the world.

The meetings have strengthened cooperation in strategic priorities, did bilateral dialogue, and also allowed the exchange of best practices and information in the regulatory, supervisory, law enforcement and judiciary fields.

In this context, His Excellency Hamid Al -Zaabi said that the financial crime is inherently cross -border, and its combat requires global solutions, stressing the commitment of the UAE and the United Kingdom firmly to address the illegal financial crimes, pointing to the fruitful discussions that took place this week and paved the way to enhance operational efficiency and support bilateral relations.

For his part, Dan Garfis, Minister of State for Security Affairs, stressed that cooperation with the UAE is an important step in the joint efforts to combat illegal financial crimes and address the international criminal networks that depend on it, explaining that through cross -border cooperation, the security of the two countries can be better protected, and the societies can protect from the grave damages caused by international money laundering and criminality, stressing that the United Kingdom is proud to stand alongside its Emirati partners in The launch of this vital dialogue.

During the visit, the country delegation met with representatives of the private sector at a round dialogue table organized by the UAE -British Business Council and hosted by the UAE embassy in London, and representatives of the General Secretariat participated in the forty -second international symposium on the economic crime at Cambridge University, where they reviewed the efforts of the UAE in combating cross -border crimes.

The results of this visit will contribute to enhancing the broader strategic cooperation between the UAE and the United Kingdom, and consolidating the commitment of the two countries in combating illegal financial crimes, developing judicial and security cooperation, and supporting the stability of the global financial system.
