Cooperation between Abu Dhabi E-Sports and Aspire to support innovation with artificial intelligence
ABU DHABI, June 3, 2017 (WAM) – Abu Dhabi Sports and Electronic Games announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Aspire, with the aim of supporting the development of games based on artificial intelligence technologies, and enhancing the position of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a leading global center that combines advanced technology, creativity and innovation in the interactive entertainment sector.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Saeed Ali Obaid Al Fazari, Executive Director of the Strategic Affairs Sector at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and Stefan Timpano, CEO of Aspire.
The agreement aims to align the game development system in Abu Dhabi with the latest advanced research and technical capabilities, through developing innovative projects and expanding the scope of uses of artificial intelligence in the design and development of digital games.
Under the agreement, Aspire, affiliated with the Advanced Technology Research Council, will employ its expertise to identify industrial challenges and develop innovative technical solutions and transform them into scalable practical applications, thus contributing to accelerating the pace of innovation within the gaming sector.
The partnership, through the extensive Abu Dhabi Gaming and E-Sports network that includes an elite group of local and international partners, will also provide new opportunities for emerging companies and game development studios to benefit from the latest technical tools and specialized expertise, supporting the transformation of creative ideas into competitive commercial products capable of reaching global markets.
His Excellency Saeed Ali Obaid Al Fazari said that the partnership with Aspire represents an important step towards integrating global research capabilities with the rapidly growing gaming sector in Abu Dhabi, opening new horizons for innovation and developing national talent, supporting economic diversification goals, and building an integrated system that provides access to advanced technologies, and enables gaming companies, developers, and creators to expand their businesses.
For his part, Stefan Timpano stressed that the gaming sector has become one of the most prominent strategic areas for artificial intelligence and the digital economy, as it provides an environment that combines real-time decision-making, advanced simulation, and attracting creative talents, pointing out that the partnership will contribute to linking research and advanced technologies with the growing gaming system in Abu Dhabi, accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence solutions, and strengthening local capabilities.
