"Dubai rooms" Discussing with the Prime Minister of the Western Cape Province the promotion of intra-regional trade and investment

Cape Town, 3 June / WAM / Dubai Chambers discussed ways to enhance trade and investment with the Western Cape Province in South Africa, during a meeting held in Cape Town with His Excellency Alan Winde, Prime Minister of the Western Cape Province, with the participation of Salem Al Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers.

During the meeting, Dubai Chambers reviewed the integrated business environment in the emirate and the opportunities it provides for the expansion of South African companies into regional and global markets, in addition to the importance of Dubai’s role in the international trade movement, facilitating the building of cross-border partnerships, and enabling the local business community to benefit from promising economic opportunities in regional and international markets.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the trade mission organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce to Cape Town, as part of its efforts to support the expansion of companies operating in Dubai into South African markets by examining prospects for cooperation with local partners and exploring new areas of growth in all sectors.

His Excellency Alan Winde stressed the commitment to strengthening and expanding trade relations with Dubai and the UAE, as part of efforts to build new bridges of joint economic opportunities, as Dubai’s global position as a leading center for finance, logistics, tourism and innovation is consistent with our vision to achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic growth that contributes to providing job opportunities.

He added that there are many promising opportunities to expand cooperation in many vital sectors, including renewable energy, food processing industries, technology, infrastructure, and other promising fields, pointing out that the Western Cape Province provides an attractive investment environment based on advanced infrastructure and qualified human resources, in addition to a proven record of investment successes, which makes it an ideal partner for investors and companies wishing to expand into African markets.

For his part, Salem Al Shamsi stressed the keenness of Dubai Chambers to expand the horizons of economic cooperation with the business community in the Western Cape and South Africa as a whole, and to explore new opportunities for cooperation in various sectors in a way that enhances the competitiveness of companies and opens the way for quality investments that serve the common interests of both parties.

He stressed the importance of developing bilateral business ties and building strategic partnerships between private sector companies, which contributes to supporting cooperation across various vital sectors of common interest, stressing that the Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s leadership of a trade mission that includes companies from Dubai to South Africa reflects the priority the Chamber gives to the South African market, which is considered Dubai’s fifth trade partner on the African continent during the past year.

He pointed out that South Africa has a prominent economic position and promising growth potential, which makes it an important strategic partner for the business community in Dubai, while the Western Cape Province stands out as a vital economic center that embraces many priority sectors, especially food trade.

Al Shamsi added that these meetings come within the framework of the keenness to consolidate the bonds of cooperation between the business communities on both sides, and enhance opportunities for building sustainable partnerships that contribute to the development of trade and mutual investment, and support the expansion of companies and their benefit from the qualitative opportunities that both Dubai and the Western Cape Province in South Africa abound.
