Nations Report: Climate change and air quality are insecure and they must be treated together to protect the health of the planet

The new report entitled “The World Meteorological Organization Bulletin on Air and Climate Quality” monitors the complex interaction between air and climate quality, highlighting the role of micro particles known as atmosphere in forest fires, winter fog, sea freight emissions, and city pollution. The bulletin is issued on the occasion International air purity day for a blue skyWhich falls on September 7.
The bulletin indicated that the fine particles resulting from activities such as transportation, industry and agriculture, as well as about the firefights and desert dust that the wind carries, still pose a serious health threat.
The report monitored the changes in those particles of 2.5 microns or less in 2024, showing that their levels decreased in eastern China thanks to the continuous mitigation measures, while there were hot spots in northern India.
He added that the activity of forest fires led to levels of these particles higher than the average in Canada, Siberia and Central Africa. But the highest change was in the Amazon basin, as part of standard forest fires in the West Amazon region and the drought fires in northern South America.
(Archive) Forest Forest in Colorado in the United States in 2023 spanned 8,000 acres in the first five hours of its outbreak.
Wanted treatment for the health of our planet
The bulletin dealt with the role of atmosphere concentrations that can heat or cooler at the atmosphere according to its composition.
She emphasized that the dismantling of the complex interactions between atmospheric geosur, interactive gases and long -lived greenhouse gases are a difficult task, and a proper understanding of these interactions will help in developing better reduction measures for both climate and air quality.
On the winter fog, the bulletin reported that the fog is no longer a simple seasonal air phenomenon, but rather an indication of the exacerbation of the human impact on the environment, and this matter requires comprehensive strategies.
The organization’s Deputy Secretary -General, Ko Barrett, said: “Climate change and air quality cannot be treated in isolation from each other. They are inseparable, and they must be treated together to protect the health of our planet, our societies, and our economies.”.
The World Health Organization estimates that air pollution causes more than 4.5 million early deaths annually around the world, as well as causing high environmental and economic costs.
