Foreign Minister’s envoy visits Fiji to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations

Abu Dhabi, September 8 / WAM / A delegation from the UAE headed by Mr. Omar Shehadeh, the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Caribbean and Pacific Islands, made an official visit to the Republic of Fiji, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries in the vital fields that include the economy, digital transformation, education, youth and sports, in addition to ways to support regional cooperation.
The delegation met a number of senior officials in Fiji, where the opportunities to develop bilateral relations were reviewed, and views were exchanged on a number of issues of common concern, especially climate change and economic diversity.
Mr. Omar Shehadeh affirmed the UAE’s keenness to expand the prospects for cooperation with Fiji, praising the historical relations and friendship ties that bring together the two countries.
For their part, officials of the Fiji Republic welcomed the visit of the Emirati delegation .. His Excellency Manua Kamika Mika, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications in Fiji said that his country is looking to develop strategic partnerships with the UAE in the fields of investment and tourism, as well as education, health, sports and youth, pointing to the role of these partnerships in supporting sustainable development and enhancing bilateral relations.
This visit reflects the UAE’s commitment to developing cooperation with the Caribbean and Pacific Islands countries, in a way that contributes to achieving joint development and prosperity.
