The Afghan people thank the UAE for its relief efforts to alleviate the effects of the earthquake

Kabul, September 13/ WAM/ The friendly Afghan people expressed their thanks and appreciation for the Emirati relief efforts and urgent assistance to alleviate the effects of the earthquake recently in Afghanistan.

The UAE continues its urgent humanitarian response to this natural catastrophe and its great repercussions on the affected areas, and working with various international organizations and the Afghan institutions concerned to deliver humanitarian aid from the basic materials and the necessary needs of various societal segments to ensure early recovery and achieve stability.

In this context, Mawlawi Abdel Ghafour, the food supply official in the affected areas, expressed his thanks to the UAE for its multiple relief efforts in alleviating the effects of this natural catastrophe, stressing that the Emirati aid reflects the spirit of the authentic Islamic brotherhood, as the UAE provided all the necessary needs of water to the blankets for all the affected segments and groups.

For his part, the scientist of Gul, a resident of the Shawky region, described what happened, saying, “The earthquake struck the area shortly before midnight, so we found ourselves only buried under the rubble, and we felt as if the Day of Resurrection,” noting that nothing left for them, no shelter or food, and that they do not have accurate information about the death toll, as the rescue teams still pulled people and corpses from the rubble.

In turn, Abdel -Basir, one of the residents of the Shawky region, stressed that his village lost at least 103 lives, saying: “I do not even have the power to talk, but I would like to say that we have passed a difficult time, our homes were destroyed, and people sleep in the open, and we all go to the open areas of the fields surrounding to protect ourselves, and we urgently need tents and other necessities.”
“Nearly 80 people from my village were killed, and we thank the UAE for the relief materials that I sent to us, and we realize that it will send us more, and my message to the world is going through a major crisis and we have no homes or the slightest basics of life, we need help,” said Jul Rahim, a resident of Diwar Diwagul area.
For his part, Dr. Shafi Allah Ahmedzai, Vice President of Public Health in Konar State, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE, and said: “We hope that the UAE will provide us with more assistance, our country is poor and our people suffer, the effects of earthquakes are still catastrophic and people are in an increasing and urgent need for various aid so that they can return to their normal lives better.”
