Did Melania Trump broke the rules of the royal protocol in its yellow dress?

The dress came in a soft yellow, exposed shoulder, with a slit on the leg, and decorated with a light purple belt consistent with a velvet shoe designed by Manolo Plainic. The look impressed some and criticized others, as some asked: Did Melania broke the rules of the royal protocol?
Fashion symbolism: elegance bearing a message
According to the fashion expert and designer Tyler Ellis, she carried a remarkable symbolic look, saying: “Carolina Herrera, the Venezuelan designer whose heritage in America – chose a clear indication of national pride and cultural openness.”
She added: “The bright yellow color adds a warmth, and helped highlight its quiet elegance.”
Between boldness and protocol
But the audacity of the dress prompted some to ask questions about the extent of its compatibility with the rules of royal ceremonies, especially in such official occasions.
Etiquette expert Joe Hayes confirmed that Melania did not violate the official protocol, explaining that the official banquet rules stipulate only wearing a long dress to the ground, with the preference of the use of luxurious fabrics and conservative designs.
Hayes added: “It is true that covering the shoulders, gloves and crown remain preferred options, but it is no longer mandatory today, especially with the changing norms and the development of public taste.”
Despite her praise, Hayes described her as a “bold option in terms of style and color”, noting that the design may move away from the royal traditions, but he gained an official nature thanks to the long sleeves. She also praised the coordination of colors, saying: “Yellow and purple is one of the integrated colors, and the nights carry a clear royal symbolism.”
Simple reservation and hardness does not cause controversy
Despite the praise, Hayes considered that the chest in the dress may have been more low than required, explaining that royal occasions require something of modesty, and she added: “The open shoulder is acceptable, but a little collar would have preferred.”
As for the slit at the leg, she saw that it does not cause any problem, saying: “The fissure is not high, and it stops at the knee, which is completely acceptable, especially since the dress is straight and requires freedom of movement.”
