International Peace Day: Guterres calls to silence the sounds of weapons and build bridges

The United Nations revives International Peace Day annually On September 21, 2025, this year’s celebration comes under the slogan: “Work now for a peaceful world.”

The Secretary -General said in His message Our wars -torn world calls for peace, saying that the International Peace Day this year calls on each of us to add his voice to this call. “Amidst the cruelty and humiliation of wars, the whole world is witnessing a loss of lives, destruction of childhood and a waste of the basic human dignity.”

He continued, “We see the conflicts spread. International law strikes the width of the wall, and unprecedented numbers of people are forced to flee from their homes. All they want is peace.”

The Secretary -General stressed that peace is something that concerns everyone, noting that the effects of wars have repercussions in the whole world. He called for silence the sounds of weapons, ending suffering and building bridges. And bring stability and prosperity. Guterres stressed that sustainable development supports peace – “nine of the ten countries in the field of development suffer from conflicts.”

In his message, the Secretary -General also called for the necessity of suppressing the pests of racism, removing humanity from people and false information that tells the fire of conflicts. “Instead, we must speak in the language of respect, open our hearts to others. And to use our influence to push towards peace. Where there is peace, there is hope. The reunion of families heals, societies rebuild themselves, and children learn and play.
